This is Valparaiso - Month in Chile - HAVANA CLUB GAP YEAR

There is something about Valparaiso I can’t explain, that something, has made me think everyday, and maybe, I’ve fallen in love with Valparaiso.

I really don’t know if it’s the ocean breeze that hugs you, or the million steps that take your mind into a journey of art and beauty, or the hills that let your eyes enjoy, colorful beauty, mixed with welcoming and charming people.

Maybe it’s the sound of Valparaiso what made me fall in love. Birds sing their best songs all day long; close your eyes and feel Valparaiso; close your eyes and hear dogs barking, people chatting, wind blowing. And the most amazing thing about all these together is that you will feel an unexplainable peace.

An unexplainable peace, that will make you sleep and rest, as you never did before; your mind will leave all problems behind, and you will breath the color of Valparaiso.

I have fallen in love with Valparaiso. My mind keeps thinking in the past of Valparaiso, when its port was one of the busiest and most important in the world, when this city was one of the wealthiest cities in Chile, when Valparaiso had a different beauty.

I imagine myself taking the lift down Cerro Concepción, very elegant; saluting Pablo Neruda on my way down, talking a few words with him and then heading to my favorite bar. I can imagine a normal day in Valparaiso back on that day.

Valparaiso makes me dream, Valparaiso makes me smile, Valparaiso makes me realize; I have fallen in love with Valparaiso.

The sun comes through my window right now, it’s open, the curtain dances with the breeze and I keep dreaming.

Valparaiso.

HAVANA CLUB GAP YEAR - Photo of the Day

Many times things call my attention, for no apparent reason; I take a picture and try to figure out what’s so important about that moment. I think but I can’t find any explanation.
Every morning I walked passed this stairs, I loved them, but I don’t know if it’s the flowers, or the stairs, or the bicycle, or everything together. Anyway, I took the picture and I am still thinking about it.

Salvador, Brazil; An original jewel to be discovered - HAVANA CLUB GAP YEAR

You might have heard a lot about Brazil, and how Rio de Janeiro’s beauty has captivated people from around the world, but Salvador is another jewel to be explored.
Salvador, once capital of Brazil has the history, has the beauty of precious old buildings and all the evidence of catholic power that once ruled Latin America.
Salvador is the third largest city in Brazil, so it’s better to plan in advance the things you will be doing there. It is not a city for getting lost and discovering, as many people will tell you to be careful and stay on touristic areas.
While in Salvador apart from the touristic spots I did this tour, and it was awesome: http://the-havana-club-gap-year.tumblr.com/post/77504719226/one-tour-you-must-do-in-salvador-brazil-havana

Once in Salvador you should visit Chapada Diamantina national park, only 6 hours by bus and you will be staying there for a week. Find out why, here:
